Movin' in

We are in the process of moving rooms at our place.  As we were moving Sophie's mattress from one room to another, Sophie found somewhere to sleep.

Who needs a chair...

...when you have all this snow!!!  I'm not sure where the chairs are but I'm sure they will turn up in the spring.

'Picture Me!'

I have been making picture books for the kids for their birthdays.  I noticed very quickly that Sophie's is going to be the biggest.  I seem to have more pictures of her than either of the boys.  There are pictures of her by herself, her with Caleb, her with Silas, her with both of her brothers, her with Ryan.  Caleb, on the other hand, has barely any pictures of him.  So I decided to make a point to take more pictures of Caleb.  But somehow Sophie is still ending up in all of the pictures.  I finally made the connection the other day-if she even thinks that I have the camera with me, she is very quick to strike a pose and call out 'picture me, Mama' and she stands perfectly still, smiling, until I do.

Zzzz....

A lot of people plan their day around their baby's nap schedule so that they are home at nap time.  Lately, I seem to be doing the opposite.  I am arranging my day around nap time too but I am trying to be in the van when Silas needs to sleep.  Silas is not a huge fan of sleep.  I keep trying to explain to him that sleep is wonderful and if I could nap once or twice a day, I would.   Unfortunately he does not agree with me and so our napping routine consists of me nursing him until he is almost asleep, putting him in his car seat and then running my errands so that he stays sleeping for as long as he needs.

Days like today are a little trickier.  Caleb isn't feeling well and it's too snowy and cold to go out.  Silas is finally sleeping in the carrier on my back.  It's probably not ideal this way but it's working for us for now.  And Silas has fallen asleep on his own.  Usually when we have plans to meet someone in the morning he decides to take a good nap and I need to wake him up so that we can leave.

Sled Ride

Sophie is having a hard time giving the baby sled to Silas.  She keeps telling me that it's hers and she still needs it.  And I suppose she does.  How else would she get her 'babies' around in the snow?

Snow day continued...

I can't believe all of the snow!  And now the cold seems to be here as well.  While Caleb and Sophie were enjoying the snow the other day, Silas was stuck inside with me.  He stood at the window screeching until I finally got both of us dressed up to go out.

Silas was so excited to be outside playing just like Sophie and Caleb.

Until he tried to crawl and discovered that it wasn't that easy in a puffy snowsuit that is a little too big...

I think Sophie needs her own camera...she loves taking pictures.  And is starting to do a pretty good job.

Caleb wanted to walk to the lake so we pulled out the sleds.  Silas was not sure about the sled at all but seemed okay as long as I kept moving.  He was so tired.  I was hoping that he would fall asleep but nope.

Caleb wanted to pull Sophie.

The walk started out pretty good.  Silas was quiet.  Sophie was happy to get a ride.  Caleb was excited to be going to the lake.   It didn't last long.  By the time we got to the entrance of our complex, I had one crying, one screaming and one very disappointed to be turning around.  Maybe when it warms up, we can try again.

Or maybe we can just stay inside and drink hot chocolate.

Snow Day!!

It is snowing.  Caleb has been very excited about this snow and has been talking about us being snowed in all weekend for days.  He keeps telling me that you can't go out in a blizzard.  But today he just couldn't resist playing in the freshly fallen snow so out he and Sophie went.

When they came in, he told me that this was the best day ever.  I'm glad that he likes snow enough for the both of us.

Hey Mom, Look at me!

Silas is getting so big, so fast.  He's learned a new trick.  He now knows how to pull himself up and stand and boy does he love to show off.  Now if only he would learn how to get back down...
