When Silas grows up

I think he'll be putting things together.  Or taking them apart.  He is always happiest when he is either outside or given some tools.  And he already seems to want to know exactly how things work.

Spring

I think spring has finally arrived.  A couple of weeks ago, it still looked like this-

Silas finally outgrew his other snowsuit so he had to wear this one.  This one is a little big and he couldn't get up when he fell down.  Too cute!

Silas loves spring.  And really, what's not to love?  There's mud.

And water.

And best of all, there are puddles.

Just like the Big Kids

Silas got a new bike.

He's still getting the hang of it but he absolutely loves it!

Turning is giving him a bit of trouble.  Whenever he turns, he tips the bike.

And there is a little bit of this happening.

But he is determined.  And it's given Sophie some motivation to learn how to ride her bike without training wheels.  Now, if only I could get him off without him screaming.

Sleds and Hot Chocolate

I've been meaning to post this for a while but I kept forgetting and posting about other things.  Now that it's spring, this post is long overdue but I'm going to post it anyway.  Mostly because I loved the pure joy on Silas' face when Ryan was pulling him earlier in the year.  This past winter, I thought we could go sledding more often since Silas was a little older.  Caleb and Sophie both love tobogganing.   As it turns out, Silas does not enjoy flying down a hill.  He does love his sled though.  As long as it is getting pulled on the flat ground.

Going over the speed bumps were okay too.  He would have spent hours outside going back and forth on our front street.

And the only thing better than having his Daddy pull him on his sled is the hot chocolate that he got when it was time to come in.

Toddlers

Well, it's official.  Silas has entered the terrible twos.  Toddlers can be spirited.  Stubborn.  Determined.  Impulsive.  Emotional.  And Silas is all of the above.  We had family pictures done, taken by the wonderful Rebecca of Dragonfly Photography, and I admit that I'm slightly terrified that all of Silas' pictures will look like this-

Okay...not really.  But only because I know Rebecca has a gift of getting just the right shot.  And I suppose, this shot really does show the intense emotions that Silas has, right?

Anyhow, toddlers can be emotional.  But it is one of my favourite ages.  They are also so curious.

Loving.

So, so funny.  (He kept climbing up on a bump in the snow saying "Ta Da!!", so proud of himself.  Hilarious!)

And so full of life.

Yes, toddlers can be trying.  But they are also wonderful.  And I definitely think the unconditional love and the sloppy kisses outweigh everything else.
