All Wrapped Up

I've been wanting a wrap since Silas was born but was very intimidated by the 'wrapping' part.  I was worried that it would be too complicated, that I wouldn't be able to get him in and out by myself and that it would end up not being used.  After becoming more comfortable with carrying Silas on my back in my buckle carrier, I decided that I was going go for it.  Since returning to work, Silas wants to be up (or nursing) from the time we get home so in order to make supper, I need to have him in a carrier.  I do have a (couple :D) buckle carriers already but decided to treat myself with a 'going back to work present'.  I bought a gorgeous red wrap that is covered in geckos.  I absolutely LOVE it.  It took a bit of practice to get Silas on my back by myself and then getting the wrap tight enough but he is definitely safe and secure when he is all wrapped up.

And I think he's pretty comfy too.

Silas gets upset when I try to put him in but lays down as soon as I tell him to.  And once he is all securely wrapped up, he is content as can be.  It looks like he may have to share though.  His sister seems to think that the wrap belongs to her.

Just like a big kid

I'm pretty sure that Sophie lifted him up onto the chair but Silas was so proud sitting up there.  He sat there to eat his whole lunch, smiling the entire time.

sleepy baby

I love taking pictures of Silas sleeping.  I mean he's just so cute!  Plus it allows me to pretend that he actually sleeps.    Last week he had a few good nights in a row-he only woke up 3 times between 11 and 6.  I was amazed at how rested I felt!  The past couple of days I've lost track of how many times he woke up.  I usually quit counting after 5.  It is peaceful rocking or nursing him back to sleep.  The one time of day when everything is quiet.  As he gets bigger, the less cuddly he is so it's nice to have that time.  Even so, I am hoping for some more restful nights soon.  And I know this won't last forever.  And if I'm lucky, it won't take Silas as long as it took Sophie to sleep through the night.  I'm not sure I can handle another 4 years...

Sophie's Elephants

Sophie made some elephants to hang on the wall.  She had to make 4 because 'elephants don't like to be alone'.  After she was finished, she realized that they each only had 3 legs and she thought that was hilarious!

It's been a fast year...

Wow.  This past year has gone by so quickly.  It is so hard to believe that in one short year Silas went from this

to this

He was so tiny when he was born.  Only 4lbs. 8oz.  I was almost scared to hold him.  He's still small compared to other 1-year-olds but I often forget because he has grown so much.

Silas had a great birthday.  He was lucky enough to get cake 3 times and he just loved it.  I forget if it was Caleb or Sophie but one of them told me that Silas uses his 'chocolate senses' to find missing chocolate.  He would eat chocolate all day if he could.

Silas isn't walking yet but he is crawling, walking along furniture, standing, climbing up and down stairs, saying no and all done and signing milk and more.  He knows all of the words that he thinks are the most important.

I still can't believe that my baby boy is 1.  I guess he's not a baby anymore-he's a toddler.  A busy, happy toddler who loves to climb, splash in the water and play with blocks.

A toddler who is still happiest when he's with his mama.  ♥
